Meet Co. fee, a homegrown, indie beatmaker from the LA area who not too long ago released his first album on iTunes titled Easy Listening. Besides that not much else is known, though the music speaks for itself.. Caribbean-influenced rhythms, electronic elements + heavy bass make up much of his sound. The title track “Kali” is a laid-back number that starts off sunny and ends on a gloomier, dubstep-y note.. check it out below + a couple quality remixes in the bonus, enjoy.

The thing that trips me out about Baths is how that level of ingenuity and straight-up musical genius is also a by-product of the same neighborhood I grew up in. If you’ve heard Cerulean or seen him work a drum machine live, you know what I’m talking about—this guy can bake watertight beats and croon like Prince at the same time. And if you know anything about the San Fernando Valley, an artist as musically progressive as Baths is not what you expect to find—scratch that, I forgot about FlyLo. “Places” is definitely a standout track from LA/SF beatmaker Shlohmo, showing the versatility of a young artist who wasn’t known for this R&B-leaning style. The production reminds me of Mount Kimbie but way more intimate and organic feeling. The intimacy is turned up a notch in this remix he made for Yours Truly. The beat is set to a crawl and Shlohmo croons more freely + seemingly takes some cues from another R&B pioneer—How to Dress Well.
